Tigh na’ Caoiraich is a beautiful self-catering cottage in the western Scottish Highlands sleeping up to eight people.

Tigh na’Caoiraich was built in the 1970’s with traditional Scottish stone and slate by the Biggart family. It is a comfortable family cottage with two small attic style bedrooms, each with a double and single bed. There are additional bunks round the kitchen table, a sofa-bed in the living room and a bunk room with several beds.

The main living room is open to the rafters with a stair up to the bedrooms. This has a fireplace with a wood burning stove and plenty of relaxing chairs.

There is a good sized bathroom downstairs with a toilet, bath and shower and a separate toilet upstairs.

The kitchen is well equipped with a stunning view of the valley and plenty of seating at a large hand-made pine dining table.

The cottage is equipped with a fridge, freezer, electric cooker, microwave, twin tub washing machine, CD and tape players, storage heaters, wood burning stove, cot, highchair, stair gates, fireguard, plastic crockery, electric shower books, games, maps and local information.

Location

Tomdoun is 16 miles from the sea on a single track, no through road and is a town consisting of a Hotel (which serves excellent food and is ¼ mile away), two cottages, a church and a telephone box. It is 35 miles north-west of Fort William, ½ hour to Fort Augustus, which is situated at the southern end of Loch Ness and about an hour from the Isle of Skye.

There are many things to enjoy in the local area including walking, climbing Munros, cycling, fishing and horse-riding. The cottage is very close to Loch Ness with associated monster spotting and boat trips. There are also several castles and Scottish Heritage sites to visit.

There is a small shop 7 miles away and a large supermarket in Fort William.

Booking Conditions

The cottage is let from Saturday (arriving after 2pm) until Saturday (leaving before noon).

A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required for booking; the balance is to be send 8 weeks before the start of the holiday.

Included in the rental are heating and electricity but the isolated nature of the cottage means you need to bring your own linen and towels (duvets and pillows are provided) and clean the cottage hen you leave ready for the next guests. This is reflected in the low rental cost.

We accept pets only by prior arrangement.

Directions

Take the A82 north towards Inverness. Continue on this road through Spean Bridge, until you come to Invergarry. At this junction turn left through Invergarry village onto the A87 towards yle of Lochalsh. Stay on this road for approx. 4 miles and take the left hand turn to Tomdoun and Kinlochourn. The cottage is 6 miles along this road, on the left just past Tomdoun Hotel, by a elephone box.
